At the end of qualifying, Lynn Fanning was in first place with +81, and rounding out the top 4 qualifiers who returned for match play were: Michelle Smith (+51), Cora Tanton (-46), and Tonda Durfee (-55). The final standings after match play were: 1. Michelle Smith (209 average), 2. Lynn Fanning (191 average), 3. Tonda Durfee (171 average), and 4. Cora Tanton (170 average). The overall tournament average of all participants was 179.

On winning the championship and being awarded the Champion title, Smith says: “I am honored to have won the championship this year and wanted to make a better showing than last year where I ended up third. I appreciate the opportunities and awards for women that the Association works very hard to offer, I only wish more women bowlers would make the most of these opportunities."

Smith is a member of the CWBA Hall of Fame, is the Sgt. at Arms of the GCUSBCA and is a Level I certified youth coach. She has 3 career perfect 300 games, an 800 series and has set the highest women’s league average in the state of S.C. for 2 years. She currently bowls in three leagues at Royal Z Lanes and Sandpiper Lanes.

The GCUSBCA congratulates Michelle Smith and all the participants of the women's tournament.
